Education
Current Opportunity
Educational organizations of all types—from pre-schools to graduate schools —are working to create more inclusive institutions that welcome all students regardless of their race or ethnicity.
These organizational changes require administration and staff to discuss and recognize how racism disrupts school operations and limits ways of thinking. Current approaches to promote effective anti-racism are limited as participants must work through the collective anxiety of getting it "right" or (worse) saying something "wrong."
Sonder Approach
Anti-racism 101 allows participants to safely understand and recognize racism in their surroundings and harness this understanding to promote positive change in their educational organization. It leverages a curriculum that aims to fundamentally change how participants see racism, others, and (ultimately) themselves so they can openly reflect and discuss without the concern of saying or doing anything "correctly."
The program's six part on-demand curriculum begins with examining identity and personal experience outside of the context of any particular social justice issue to allow more room for nuance. Participants leverage this understanding to objectively discuss race, racism, and its resulting impacts without assigning personal blame or taking a defensive stance.

The program leverages participants' ability to recognize racist policies and ideas in academic environments. This collective understanding is then summarized into a tailored Anti-racism playbook outlining recommend next steps for institutions and/or districts to create more inclusive surroundings for staff, students, and their families.
